How fast you level in Age of Conan can also depend on what type of character you select. If you wanna reach lvl 80 fast then character selection is real important.

Most Age of Conan players using barbarian characters tend to go for a Juggernaut than a tempest to reach lvl 50 due to its greater crowd control abilties then switch to a Revver to achieve lvl 80 faster because of it stronger DPS.
